The patterns on old cars’ cracked safety glass look like street networks from above, recalling road expansions cutting new paths through cities, suburbs and the bush. Through the delicate patterns, we see the dark nature of rampant consumerism and the devastation of our environment that is required to sustain it.

BIOGRAPHY
Emilio Cresciani is an award-winning artist and freelance photographer living in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from Sydney College of the Arts in 2012 and won the Dis-Moi Dix Mots Competition (2018), as well as being a finalist in the Mandorla Art Prize (2018), the Bowness Prize (2017) and the Chippendale New World Art Prize (2015). His artwork explores redundancy and urban change, with an interest in objects, structures, buildings and the urban landscape, and in particular the increasing number of ‘non-places’ that fill our environment.
