In 2017, local astronomer and photographer Phil Hart undertook an expedition to the Teton Range in Wyoming. With 180kg of gear and 13 cameras, he hiked to the 3387m summit of Table Mountain, twice, for an iconic view of the totally eclipsed sun over one of North America’s famous mountain peaks.

Local astronomer and photographer Phil Hart is one of Australia’s most seasoned eclipse chasers – a particular band of individuals afflicted with the desire to chase highly predictable astronomical events around the country and the globe, despite the sometimes devastating uncertainty of weather and complex equipment on the outcome.
